Our holiday cottage has been built in an old stable house which we completely refurbished.
Using “green” raw materials, we designed this cottage to bring our visitors a comfortable and quiet place.
Example of our “green” rebuilding:
Insulation has been made using wood and hemp fiber, combined with cellulose wadding
All wood which we used are non-treated
Electric cables are all connected to earth to avoid magnetic field
Floor is covered with the real “Linoleum” downstairs
The stone walls first floor are insulated with a mortar of hemp hurd and hydraulic lime
No glue, no chemical paints, no VOC release
This old house is so well insulated that heating twice a day during 15 mn is enough to keep a 19°C inside during winter time
Ecological use is also here in the daily life in the holiday cottage:
Hot water is produced by solar panels
Heating system is based on solar panels and wood pellet boiler
Water coming to the toilets is rain water which we reuse
All lights are LED or low consumption lights
We’ve installed one dry toilet using sawdust
All rubbish is sorted between real rubbish, compost and recyclable
This “green” way of thinking during rebuilding and using brings us a “green holiday cottage label” in 2013.
And now, description of this holiday cottage…
On a total surface of more than 160 sqm, you can find 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one with bath) and 5 toilets, some of them in the bathrooms, some of them independent.
You can find all pictures, drawing, description of these rooms on the French side of our web site.
This gives a total number of beds of 13 places, with a minimum of 2 double beds (in Hellebore and Bruyere bedrooms), the rest being adjustable with single of double beds.
Bed linen is in place when our visitors are coming, towels are available in one of the three bathrooms (one color for each guest…). Nothing more to do…
Our table for diner has been home made, designed for 16 people, and the TV corner also.
Our kitchen is full equipped, same than at home (oven, washing machine, microwaves, …)
Closed to the entrance of the holiday cottage, we have the wash house with 7 kg washing machine, dryer, and outside manual dryer and a large sink.
Outside, two terraces, one 10 sqm south orientated and the second one, 50 sqm with large garden furniture (14 to 16 seats), BBQ, sun umbrellas, folding chairs,…
Garden is fully closed, private of course and our visitors have their private parking.
Under our “hangar”, you can also find table tennis, set of “petanque” bowls, badminton set,… Our two goats are waiting for some pieces of old bred, our bees can also be observed in the bottom of our garden (200 m long…)
